WARMER HOMES ON THEIR WAY FOR CALTON!

This week Thenue Housing revealed we would improve over 100 properties enhancing their appearance and making them warmer too.
The cladding work to insulate them better is being carried out THREE YEARS EARLIER than planned after the Association secured some of the cost in grants.
Thenue Housing gratefully acknowledge funding from Glasgow City Council without whose involvement this work could not have gone ahead.
The Council is instrumental in providing money to the tune of over £200,000 to enable Thenue to press on with these improvements.
Work is getting under way very soon and will be completed by March to the properties in five Calton streets. Around £233,000 of the total cost of £773,590 has been secured by Thenue in grant funding – another example of our strong commitment to deliver value for money in everything we do.
The buildings receiving the face-lift are in the following streets: Stevenson Street, Abercromby Street, Millroad Street, Tobago Street and Tobago Place.
There are huge benefits to cladding so-called “inter-war” tenements such as those receiving the work. Homes become warmer meaning fuel bills can be lower which saves householders money PLUS the appearance of the buildings is markedly improved.
Charles Turner, Chief Executive of Thenue said: “This is great news because it means people living in these 102 properties will notice a big difference both in the exterior appearance of their homes and in terms of saving money on heating.
“There is also a widespread belief that energy costs are on the rise so this couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.
“Even better, because we were able to source grant funding and in keeping with our deep-rooted value for money approach, we can carry out this work three years earlier than planned. That’s great news for the people living in these homes.”
